I am going to go through the video software that I have explored over the past month and give a review. Please note the review is based on the software and is compatibility to our students and our resources.
Coaches eye
Positives - I love the way you can video overlay using this software. It also has a free version.
Negatives- Can only be used using a touchscreen devise. This means in our school the students would not be able to use their Chromebooks. The enhancements also cost. The coaches eye is not really set up for teachers more for sports coaches
Ubersense
Positives - Seems to be a step up on coaches eye. It has a lot more shared videos and it links to Facebook accounts. It also has a free version.
Negatives- Can only be used using a touchscreen devise. This means in our school the students would not be able to use their Chromebooks. The enhancements also cost. T
Wi Video
Positives - You can upload straight from Google drive. Easy to use from a Chromebook.
Negatives- The cost. Also this is more a editing devise as opposed to a movement analysis site
Vidalyse
Positives - You can upload straight from google drive. Easy to use from a Chromebook. Can control and manage accounts of students. Set up for PE teachers. Can compare videos side by side and use the angle tool and lines and drawings similar to coaches eye and ubbersense. I have brought for 200 dollars a lifetime membership that allows 1000 students access to the software each year.
Negatives- It does not quite have the same functions as the touch screen apps and software.
So, overall for the purpose of what I am trying to achieve with my PE class I am going to use vidalyse. Although not as powerful as other software for the purpose of control and management of a class of students this software ticks the most boxes....
